DEFINITIONS . . .

T3 lines are technically referred to as T3 or DS3 channels.

1 T3 channel =  28 T1 channels = 672 DSO channels = 44.736Mb.

1 T1 channel = 1 DS1 channel = 24 DSO channels = 1.544Mb.

1 DSO channel can be either 64Kbps of digital data OR one voice line.

DS = Digital Signal channel.

Bidirectional = can upload and download data at the same time.

Mbps = Million bits per second = 1,048,576 bits = 1Mb.

Kbps = thousand bits per second = 1024 bits = 1Kb.

A Bit = one binary digit (a 1 or a 0).

POP = Point of Presence which is the location a line attaches to a providers network.
